- Entry Background/Description: Our largest annual fundraiser is typically a traditional gala, but we wanted to do something different and more fun for our donors this year. A Taste of Camp gave our donors an inside look at the magic of summer camp. During the cocktail hour, our donors played classic camp games such as cornhole, giant Connect-4, and giant Jenga. They competed in a nerf shootout, made friendship bracelets, and tried to beat our campers’ records such as longest time hula hooping, most cups stacked in a single tower, and most consecutive headers with a beach ball. While they were busy participating in activities, our camp prom DJ played our campers’ favorite songs. Dinner was a “high scale” version of camp food and featured tacos, a cheesesteak station, and a mac ‘n cheese bar. Two campers and a camper’s father gave speeches, and then we served classic camp desserts: an ice cream sundae station and s’mores! We finished the night with a camp activity, and winners received HIC merchandise.
- Why You Should Vote for Me: This event resulted in the most night-of donations that we've ever received at one of our fundraisers. Several donors told us that it was our most fun fundraiser yet. The laid back atmosphere was also a great way to get our campers and their families involved!
